5-HTP is an efficacious formula providing 50mg of 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) per serving to support healthy mood and well-being. 5-HTP is commonly extracted from the plant species Griffonia simplicifolia, as well as being a primary metabolite of the amino acid L-tryptophan.

Despite L-tryptophan known for being a natural sedative, 5-HTP doesn’t necessarily induce drowsiness, but rather works to support relaxation and calmness. However, 5-HTP (at higher doses) may be useful for supporting sleep.

5-HTP readily crosses the blood-brain barrier, and is effective for increasing serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is often touted as the “feel good” neurotransmitter due to its positive effects on mood. By enhancing the levels of serotonin in the brain, 5-HTP can help support mood, relaxation, neural tissue, and sleep quality. Furthermore, there is some data that suggests 5-HTP supplementation supports weight loss by reducing food intake.

Directions for Adults

Take one to three capsules daily on an empty stomach. Do not exceed recommended intake.  Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
